Hire Me as a Brand Storytelling Consultant
Most organizations don't have a shortage of things to say. They have a judgment problem. Inside a company, everything feels important. But someone still has to decide what matters to an outsider.
As a brand storytelling consultant, I help founders and marketing leaders find the one idea their audience needs to understand. Then I build the story around it, so the company knows what to say and what to leave out.
Brand Narrative Strategy
Clear and memorable brand narratives attract customers. Create a distinctive brand story that sticks with your customers and keeps them coming back.
Thought Leadership Strategy
Expert insight builds trust. Create a thought leadership strategy that turns your company’s expertise into authority that converts into sales.
Earned Media Strategy
For organizations that need better stories before they need more pitches. I evaluate your research, experts, data, and initiatives through a journalist's eyes and identify the angles most likely to support credible media coverage.

When to Bring in a Brand Storytelling Consultant
The company has changed, but the story hasn't.
Your website says one thing. Your leaders say another. Your teams have started telling different versions of the same story.
I find the idea that should hold it all together.
You know a great deal, but you don't know what to publish.
Your organization has more knowledge than it can use. The hard part is knowing which ideas deserve attention.
I find the ones worth building on.
Something important is hard to explain.
Your product, research, or new idea makes sense inside the company. Outside the company, it gets confusing or dull.
I find the part people need to understand first.
You're pitching the press, but the press isn't interested.
What matters to your company may not be a story yet.
I look at it as a journalist would and find what could make it worth reporting.
Why Hire a Journalist to Solve a Business Problem?
A journalist has to see any subject from the outside. We question what insiders take for granted. We find the details they have stopped noticing. Then we decide what matters enough to earn someone else’s attention.
I’ve spent more than a decade doing that work as a national journalist, including for National Geographic and The New York Times. My reporting has reached millions of readers, sometimes even overnight.
I know how to find the story people will care about. I’m not there to make the wrong idea sound better. I’m there to find the right one.
I Know This Problem From Both Sides
I’ve spent more than a decade as the journalist deciding which pitches and ideas are worth pursuing.
I’ve also been on the other side. My book Gator Country earned national attention from The New York Times, NPR, The Washington Post, People, and other major outlets. It became a New York Times Editors' Choice and a People Magazine Book of the Week.
Getting people to care about a book is hard. Getting them to care about a company, idea, or piece of research works the same way. Attention has to be earned.
How Consulting Works
Every project starts with a defined problem and ends with a defined result. You tell me what you need, and I'll outline how I can make it happen.
I price the work by the problem and the value of solving it, not by the hour. When the project ends, your team has a strategy it can use on its own.
Consulting engagements start at $12,500.
